Krakatoa Resources has commenced its 2026 drilling program at the Zopkhito antimony-gold project in Georgia, advancing work toward a maiden JORC-compliant resource estimate.
Surface diamond drilling is now underway at Zopkhito, with the program targeting mineralised antimony (Sb) and gold (Au) vein systems previously identified within historical underground workings. The campaign will focus on converting and expanding the project’s existing foreign resource estimate while advancing development studies aimed at assessing future mining potential.
“Following a higher than average snow fall over winter, we are pleased that the 2026 field season at Zopkhito has now commenced,” Krakatoa Resources Mark Major said.
“This year’s drilling program is designed to support the delivery of a maiden JORC-compliant mineral resource estimate and advance early mine development studies.”
Located in Georgia’s Racha region, the 1779-hectare project is covered by a mining licence valid until March 2042. Krakatoa holds an exclusive option to acquire up to an 80 per cent interest in the asset.
Zopkhito hosts a foreign resource estimate of 225,000 tonnes grading 11.6 per cent antimony for approximately 26,000 tonnes of contained antimony, alongside 7.1 million tonnes grading 3.7g/t gold for 815,119 ounces of contained gold.
he project is supported by extensive historical exploration, including around 27 kilometres of underground adits, more than 15,000 channel and geochemical samples, and previous LiDAR and induced polarisation surveys.
Major said that results from the 2025 drilling campaign confirmed both the high-grade nature of the antimony-gold mineralisation and the project’s expansion potential.
“With the recognition of antimony’s strategic importance increasing globally, we believe Zopkhito has the potential to become a rare and significant European source of this critical mineral,” Major said.
Underground drilling and bulk adit sampling are expected to begin in the coming weeks, while the broader 2026 work program will also include metallurgical optimisation studies and preliminary mine planning.
