Lincoln “reinvigorated” by SA copper discovery

Lincoln Minerals is sharpening its focus on copper exploration on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula, positioning itself as a discovery-driven base metals player.

Speaking during an investor webinar, chief executive officer Chris Wilcox said a historic intercept at the company’s Minbrie project has “reinvigorated our exploration on the Eyre Peninsula”.

A review of historic drilling at Minbrie and the Eagle Ridge prospect identified an intercept of 29.15m at 0.88 per cent copper, 7.12 per cent lead, 1.9 per cent zinc and nine grams per tonne (g/t) silver beneath less than 100m of cover.

“This is a discovery type intercept sitting beneath less than 100m of cover, which has been ineffectively tested down dip,” Wilcox said. “Discovery-type intersections like this don’t come along every day, particularly at such shallow depths. It’s absolutely something to be excited about.”

Lincoln controls 1100 square kilometres of tenure in the Gawler Craton, a region Wilcox said hosts 66 per cent of Australia’s copper resources. The company is targeting underexplored extensions of known mineralised systems, with Eagle Ridge interpreted to sit on a 17km stratigraphic trend.

While around 7km of strike has been historically drilled, only 30 per cent of holes have been re-logged by Lincoln and some bottom-of-hole intervals were never assayed.

“It’s more strategic to first identify multiple targets across the whole belt for follow-up drilling,” Wilcox said.  “Upcoming work will include wide-spaced aircore drilling across the 17km trend and further re-logging and re-assaying of historic core.

“Diamond drilling is part of the 2026 plan. The best targets will be followed up with diamond drilling and Eagle Ridge will be one of those.”

Wilcox said the company’s focus remains firmly on copper discovery, describing Minbrie as an exciting discovery opportunity with potential for scale.
