Lincoln Minerals has identified a high-priority copper-base metal target at its Minbrie project on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula.
The company’s exploration team has uncovered strong geological similarities between historical drillhole BURCD030 and the Minbrie discovery hole BUDD192, elevating BURCD030 to a priority target.
Notably a pXRF analysis identified bornite within a 1cm vein in the Katunga Dolomite, located just 4m from the hole’s end, with copper readings reaching up to 3.03 per cent at 274m down hole.
“Our exploration team continues to reveal a mineral system at Minbrie that is significantly more complex and prospective than initially understood,” Lincoln Minerals chief executive officer Jonathon Trewartha said.
“We’re observing clear geological zonation, evidence of multiple mineralising events, and strong structural controls – all hallmarks of a robust and long-developed hydrothermal system.”
A total of 28 historical holes were examined, with 1775m of core re-logged, 620 portable XRF (pXRF) readings collected and 224 core intervals selected for laboratory assay.
These efforts build on legacy data from drilling initially focused on magnetite in 2011, unlocking previously unrecognised zones of sulphide mineralisation.
Detailed re-logging and core analysis have confirmed four distinct generations of sulphide mineralisation at Minbrie, pointing to a prolonged and dynamic multi-phase hydrothermal system.
“These insights strongly support our strategy to rapidly advance exploration by leveraging the depth of historical data in combination with modern analysis,” Trewartha said.
“We look forward to sharing more detail in today’s investor webinar, including how these findings are shaping the next phase of our exploration program.”
With drilling scheduled to commence in the second half of 2025, Lincoln is finalising drill targets that will focus on testing downhole extensions from BURCD030 and broader mineralised zones along the Minbrie corridor.
