VHM has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Currumbin Minerals for the supply and delivery of high-grade zircon-titania heavy mineral concentrate (HMC) from its Goschen project in north-west Victoria.
The agreement marks a key step in VHM’s strategy to establish a domestic supply chain solution for products produced at Goschen, one of Australia’s most significant rare earths and mineral sands developments.
The MoU outlines a framework for a proposed collaboration where Currumbin processes HMC from the Goschen project through its advanced facility in south-east Queensland.
The plant, which uses cutting-edge gravity, electrostatic and magnetic separation technologies, is owned and operated by the Neumann family, who have over 70 years’ experience in the heavy mineral sands sector.
“The collaboration with Currumbin Minerals is a significant step in VHM’s strategy to build a domestic supply chain for both its rare earths and mineral sands products to further align itself with the Victorian Government’s Critical Minerals Roadmap,” VHM chief executive officer Ron Douglas said.
“VHM looks forward to working with Currumbin Minerals and leveraging their extensive experience in the industry.”
The MoU follows several major milestones for VHM, including the Victorian Minister for Planning endorsing the Goschen project’s Environment Effects Statement (EES) in December 2024, and Resources Victoria awarding a mining licence in April 2025.
The arrangement with Currumbin Minerals also opens the door to a potential long-term strategic partnership, with both companies exploring further processing opportunities on Australia’s east coast.
The Goschen project continues to gain momentum as VHM positions itself as a key contributor to Australia’s growing critical minerals sector.
