Kookaburra graphite project gains recognition

Lincoln Minerals’ Kookaburra graphite project has been named in the 2025 edition of the Australian Critical Minerals Prospectus.

This recognition reaffirms its position as one of the country’s most promising critical minerals developments.

Published by Austrade, the Australian Critical Minerals Prospectus, showcases around 50 advanced and investment ready critical minerals projects across Australia.

Located on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula, Kookaburra’s inclusion for a third time reflects its favourable development profile, including a granted mining lease, positive pre-feasibility study results and proximity to critical infrastructure.

“We’re pleased to see the Kookaburra graphite project once again included in this important national publication,” Lincoln Minerals chief executive officer Jonathon Trewartha said.

“As international markets seek high-quality, low-risk graphite sources, Kookaburra stands out as a development-ready project with strong potential to supply battery and industrial markets.”

Lincoln said it is continuing to explore pathways to advance the Kookaburra project, including offtake partnerships, funding solutions and value-added graphite processing.

Graphite is a critical component in the production of battery anode materials, playing a key role in the global push towards electrification, decarbonisation and energy security.

The World Bank expects the global graphite market to grow to $US21.6 billion by 2027, with graphite demand increasing by 500 per cent between 2018 and 2050

With demand projected to rise sharply in line with electric vehicle and renewable energy growth, Australia is positioning itself as a leading supplier of critical minerals.

The Kookaburra graphite project supports these efforts by offering high-grade graphite suitable for downstream processing and integration into global battery supply chains.

These include potential offtake partnerships, funding options and opportunities for value-added graphite processing to support growing international demand.

With the spotlight on critical minerals intensifying, the Kookaburra project’s recognition in the 2025 Prospectus places Lincoln in a strong position to attract investment and advance development plans for one of South Australia’s key graphite assets.
