High-grade gold zone extended at Viani

Alice Queen

Alice Queen has intersected high-grade epithermal gold mineralisation in its second drill hole at its Viani project in Fiji.

The company confirmed the continuity of the high-grade gold zone from surface to a depth of 175m, with hole 25VDD002 intersecting:

  • 4.14m at 6.13 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and 9.42g/t silver from 195.76m, including
  • 0.58m at 26.4g/t gold and 39.7g/t silver
  • 0.80m at 11.4g/t gold and 6.52g/t silver.

These results were intersected 80m below the maiden drill hole, 24VDD001, which returned 1.9m at 8.52g/t gold and 13.1g/t silver.

Alice Queen managing director Andrew Buxton said these results significantly increase the potential of the project.

“We are very excited that this demonstrates continuity of high-grade epithermal gold from surface to a depth of 175m, which has upgraded the prospectivity of this project,” Buxton said.

“This is why epithermal gold deposits are so sought after globally … high-grade gold and continuity.

“Hole 3, currently drilling, is currently approaching the target zone. If it comes in as planned, Hole 3 could extend the vertical high-grade gold along a vertical interval of circa 275 metres. That would be significant.

“Given the surface strike is greater than 3km, plans are on foot to design our next holes to test the lateral strike extent of this high-grade gold epithermal system at Viani.”

Alice Queen’s current drilling program aims to further test depth extensions of the high-grade gold zone, with hole 25VDD003 now in progress to test 100m below 25VDD002.

The company believes the results have upgraded the potential of the Dakuniba vein system to host economic high-grade gold ore shoots at depth and along strike.
