Axel REE has signed two memoranda of understanding (MoU) with the Minas Gerais Government, securing vital support to accelerate the development of its Caladão and Caldas rare earth element (REE) and gallium projects.
The first MoU, signed with the Federation of Industries of Minas Gerais, grants Axel REE access to LabFab ITR, South America’s first rare earth magnet research and production facility.
The partnership will allow the company to collaborate on scientific initiatives, participate in research programs, and explore potential future testing of REE magnet production using material supplied by Axel REE.
The second MoU, signed with the State Secretariat for Economic Development and Invest Minas, is focused on streamlining regulatory approvals and fast-tracking project development.
The agreement ensures Axel REE receives government support throughout exploration, permitting and operational phases.
“We are extremely proud to have been recognised by the State of Minas Gerais as an emerging REE (and Gallium) company in such a short period since we commenced exploration activity,” Axel REE managing director Fernando Tallarico said.
“Axel is excited to have government support that includes access to the REE magnet laboratory, the only facility of this nature in the southern hemisphere.
“These strategic collaborations are aimed to set the company up as it progresses to the next stages in its development (mineral resource estimate and metallurgical testing in progress) and, subject to results, seeking offtake partnerships.”
Under the agreement, Axel REE will gain access to government agencies, assistance in regulatory processes, and support from Invest Minas in securing permits and environmental approvals.
“We are particularly impressed with the fantastic business environment the state has created, which has attracted investments and accelerated project development,” Tallarico said.
