Connected Minerals has begun its maiden exploration program in Western Australia, marking a significant milestone for the company’s Australian portfolio.
The program is focused on validating historical exploration results at the Civilisation Bore and Mt Genoa projects in the Pilbara region, with geological mapping and rock chip sampling planned to assess base metal mineralisation.
“We are thrilled to be on the ground in WA and kicking off our maiden exploration across our Australian assets,” Connected managing director and chief executive officer Warrick Clent said.
“Commencing with mapping and progressing to rock chip sampling at both Civilisation Bore and Mt Genoa, our aim is to validate the historic Newmont Corp/Newcrest Mining results from the 1980s and determine follow-up exploration programs that will be carried out in 2025.”
The company’s Western Australian portfolio consists of three granted exploration licences (E70/6165, E09/2465 and E08/3304), all demonstrating multi-commodity potential.
At Civilisation Bore, historic exploration by Newcrest in the early 1990s defined an extensive corridor of hydrothermal chlorite alteration extending up to 20km, with anomalous copper, arsenic, antimony, and tin detected across a zone spanning 5–8km in width.
A standout rock chip result from this period returned 33.5 per cent copper.
Further mapping and sampling will focus on confirming and expanding on these findings.
At Mt Genoa, located 10km southeast of Mt Augustus, previous exploration by Sandfire Resources between 2004 and 2005 identified copper and lead anomalies in surface samples, including results of 1318ppm copper and 5691ppm lead.
The region’s geological setting suggests potential for sediment-hosted base metal deposits, akin to the nearby Abra deposit.
“Our Australian exploration will run concurrently with our uranium exploration program in Namibia, which is already in full swing, having recently delivered exceptional results up to 5413ppm uranium oxide,” Clent said.
“2025 is shaping up as a pivotal year for Connected, with significant news flow expected across our entire portfolio.”
