Premier1 Lithium’s first sampling program at the Abbotts North project in Western Australia has returned multiple high-grade results.
The highlight of the program was a rock chip sample returning 6.7 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from a previously unexplored area.
“We are encouraged by the gold and multi-element geochemical results from Abbotts North, particularly in the Sprigg Bore area,” Premier1 managing director Jason Froud said.
“This area, within the Abbotts Greenstone Belt, is almost completely unexplored and occupies a very similar structural and geological setting to New Murchison’s Crown Prince deposit.”
Other results included 1.9g/t and 0.7g/t gold at Sprigg Bore and multiple assays from Abbotts West, where samples returned 4.4g/t, 3.4g/t and 3.0g/t gold.
The company said gold anomalism was identified across more than 1km of strike, despite the region’s sparse outcrop.
The Abbotts North project is located 35km north of Meekatharra and sits within the Abbotts Greenstone Belt, which hosts the historical Abbotts mining centre.
Limited drilling has been conducted in the area, with past exploration mainly focused around known deposits.
The recent sampling program was designed to improve geological understanding of the project, and the strong assay results suggest further exploration could define a significant gold system.
Premier1 now plans to conduct additional geological mapping, sampling, and geophysical surveys to assess the extent of the mineralisation.
“The Abbotts North project is at an early stage of assessment for its gold mineralisation, but these results highlight its potential to become a second gold project including Yalgoo for Premier1,” Froud said.
With further work planned, Premier1 is positioning itself to expand its gold exploration efforts and unlock the potential of this under-explored region.
