Argent Minerals has confirmed new volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) mineralisation zones at the Henry’s and Sugarloaf Hill prospects within the Kempfield project in New South Wales.
These findings underline Kempfield’s potential to host high-grade base and precious metal deposits.
At Henry’s, a new 1.2km-long, 300m-wide VMS system was uncovered 2km east of the Kempfield Lode 300 mineralised block. This came after Argent conducted six maiden reverse circulation (RC) drill holes at the prospect.
Results revealed shallow, high-grade zones, with standouts including:
- 24m at 11.84 grams per tonne (g/t) silver (Ag) and 1.44 per cent combined copper, lead, and zinc (Cu+Pb+Zn) from 25m, including 7m at 37.83g/t Ag and 4.13 per cent Cu+Pb+Zn
- 21m at 7.3g/t Ag and 0.85 per cent Cu+Pb+Zn from 31m, including 12m at 10.22g/t Ag and 1.26 per cent Cu+Pb+Zn.
“The high-grade silver and base metal discovery at Henry’s prospect represents a significant regional exploration success,” Argent managing director Pedro Kastellorizos said.
“The discoveries have potential for a major VMS cluster system with the team planning to test additional regional targets.”
Mineralisation at Henry’s remains open along strike and at depth, suggesting considerable upside for further drilling.
Meanwhile, drilling at Sugarloaf Hill has extended the known mineralisation strike length to 520m with a vertical depth of 100m. Highlights from five RC drillholes included:
- 46m at 0.32 per cent Cu+Pb+Zn from surface, including 23m at 0.48 per cent Cu+Pb+Zn
- 14m at 12.1g/t Ag from 35m, including 3m at 26.7 /t Ag.
Despite terminating in oxide material, the results reinforce the potential for deeper sulphide zones, pending diamond drilling.
Argent’s recent exploration validates Kempfield’s untapped potential, with the discoveries at Henry’s and Sugarloaf Hill adding weight to the company’s July 2024 upgraded resource estimate of 63.7Mt at 69.75g/t silver equivalent, encompassing significant silver, gold, lead, and zinc reserves.
If follow-up drilling affirms these zones’ scale and grade, Kempfield could transition from promising exploration project to a potential base and precious metal operation in the future.
