Record rare earths at Caladão

Caladão rare earths

Axel REE has reported record-breaking assay results from its flagship Caladão rare earths project in Brazil’s Lithium Valley.

The results reinforce the project’s potential as a world-class deposit and mark a significant milestone for the company.

These assays revealed the highest-ever recorded grades for the project, with total rare earth oxides (TREO) reaching up to 28,321ppm (2.8 per cent TREO) and magnet rare earth oxides (MREO) up to 7606ppm (0.76 per cent).

Drill hole CLD-AUG-093 returned impressive results of 14m at 9994ppm TREO (20 per cent MREO) from 1m depth, including 1m at 28,321ppm TREO (27 per cent MREO) from 9m.

“The exceptionally high-grade results continue from our Caladão project, surpassing our expectations,” Axel REE managing director Fernando Tallarico said.

“The previously reported channel results and the overall distribution of the mineralised intercepts show a remarkable lateral continuity, which is essential for building resource volume.”

The assays confirm widespread REE mineralisation across a vast area of 30km², representing less than 10 per cent of the total project area.

“These record-breaking assays represent a significant milestone for the company and reinforce the tremendous potential of the Caladão project.” Tallarico said.

“We have demonstrated that previously reported high-grade assays were not isolated, having received these new company record results as high as 28,321ppm TREO and 7606ppm MREO from this batch.”

The Caladão deposit benefits from a thick regolith profile, developed through the tropical weathering of neoproterozoic sedimentary sequences intruded by alkaline granites.

This profile, which can reach up to 60m, contains kaolinite, a mineral known for its ability to adsorb REEs and form ionic adsorption clay-hosted REE mineralisation.

Axel’s phase one 2600m drilling program, focused on Area A, has consistently delivered high-grade results, with mineralisation remaining open in all directions.
