Lincoln Minerals has announced an exceptional high-grade base metals discovery at its Minbrie prospect, located on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula.
The discovery was found within a historic mining region renowned for copper, lead and silver production.
The standout results were from drill hole BUDD192, which intercepted 29.5m at 0.8 per cent copper, 7.4 per cent lead, 1.9 per cent zinc, and 9.0 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 131.1m.
“The exceptional assay results from Minbrie represent the quality of Lincoln’s exploration tenement portfolio and demonstrate the potential of a significant copper and base metal system,” Lincoln Minerals chief executive officer Jonathan Trewartha said.
“With copper’s pivotal role in the green energy transition, this project represents a significant opportunity for Lincoln and our shareholders.
“We are excited about the potential of this project and look forward to providing further updates as our exploration activities progress.”
The high-grade zone, historically overlooked due to a focus on magnetite exploration, was identified during a comprehensive review of historical drill data.
During these reviews, exceptionally high-grade massive sulphide copper and base metals in the BUDD192 historic drill-hole were found.
Portions of the drill sections remain unassayed for base metals, presenting additional exploration opportunities.
Minbrie benefits from its proximity to the Port of Whyalla, power and water infrastructure, and the Port Pirie smelter, ensuring cost-efficient project development.
The next steps include re-assaying untested drill core intervals, finalising drill targets and securing permits for a follow-up exploration campaign set for the first quarter of 2025.
Strategically positioned in the Gawler Craton alongside deposits like Olympic Dam and Prominent Hill, the Minbrie discovery underscores the region’s potential for uncovering high-grade base metal deposits.
The next steps in Lincoln’s exploration campaign will be to conduct a follow up drilling program to delineate the orebody geometry.
