Unlocking porphyry copper-gold in Fiji

Alice Queen Fiji

Alice Queen is testing a conceptual porphyry copper-gold target at its Sabeto project in Fiji, with a diamond drill rig set to be mobilised to the project in early October.

Located on Viti Levu’s highly prospective Sabeto range, the Sabeto project sits between the Vuda copper-gold project and the Tuvatu gold mine operated by Lion One Metals.

The company aims to drill three diamond core holes, totalling up to 1800m, to explore a subvolcanic copper-gold breccia pipe.

In the past, key drill holes SBDD0001, SBD0003, and SBD0004 have intersected copper-gold mineralisation associated with sanidine feldspar porphyry (SFP) and hydrothermal diatreme breccia.

SBDD0001 intersected several SFP dykes at depth, including a hit of 32m at 0.24 grams per tonne gold and 0.12 per cent copper from 90m downhole. Alice Queen believes the SFP is sourced from a larger mineralised intrusive at depth.

Anomalous copper-gold was observed in both SBD0003 and SBD0004, with SBD0003 intersecting several discrete copper-gold zones associated with breccias and SFP.

These results, combined with a “bullseye resistivity high” ZTEM anomaly, suggest an untested intrusive complex to the west.

“This is exciting news for Alice Queen,” Alice Queen managing director Andrew Buxton said. “With Gage Capital’s recent investments, the company is fully funded to execute its exploration strategy across the company’s projects.

“This paves the way for strong news flow throughout the back end of this calendar year and well into 2025.

“It is our intention to make Alice Queen a significant player in the Asia Pacific gold space.”

With the start of drilling expected in October, Alice Queen is gearing up to accelerate exploration at both the Sabeto and Viani projects.
