Chasing ‘large-scale’ gold at Golden Ridge

Flynn Gold Golden Ridge

Flynn Gold is narrowing its exploration focus in north-east Tasmania, with a series of new gold targets defined at the Golden Ridge project.

The company has been conducting a soil sampling program at Golden Ridge, with findings highlighting known prospect areas as well as new target areas that further enhance the project’s potential to host a large-scale gold deposit.

“Our flagship Golden Ridge project in north-east Tasmania keeps delivering exciting results,” Flynn Gold managing director and chief executive officer Neil Marston said.

“Last year was significant for Flynn Gold with drilling at Golden Ridge intersecting high-grade gold in multiple vein sets at the Trafalgar prospect.

“The results of our soil sampling program are also very pleasing with significant gold anomalies coinciding with known old workings as well as gold anomalies being identified in several new target areas along the prospect contact zone.”

Flynn Gold will complete follow-up soil sampling over the coming months to further hone its exploration strategy, with drilling at the Trafalgar prospect being carried out in parallel, which will look to identify extensions to known mineralised veins.

The 1500m drill program will comprise infill and extensional drilling targeting along-strike and down-dip extensions to previous high-grade gold intercepts.

Previous high-grade assays include:

  • 5.0m at 12.56 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, including 0.4m at 150.0g/t gold from 202m
  • 1.2m at 65.9g/t gold, including 0.5m at 143.0g/t gold from 57.5m
  • 12.3m at 16.8g/t gold, including 0.7m @ 152.5g/t gold from 120.3m.

Flynn Gold also intends to complete a high-resolution drone-based aeromagnetic and LIDAR survey over parts of the Golden Ridge project in the coming weeks, with a focus on a granodiorite and adjacent mathinna group sediment contact zone.

The Grenadier, Duke and Big Penny prospects have been added to the fray at Golden Ridge, joining other targets such as Trafalgar, Brilliant, Link Zone, Blinding and Kensington.

Anomalous gold has been defined across a combined strike length of at least 9km at the project, extending along a granodiorite-metasediment contact zone.
