Western Yilgarn expands exploration portfolio

Western Yilgarn is advancing its Mt Magnet project, which is targeting platinum group elements (PGE), gold, nickel, and other minerals.

The company recently secured the Boodanoo Northeast tenement, further expanding exploration ground at Mt Magnet in Western Australia.

Western Yilgarn previously identified a 2km long gold in soil target at the tenement, following a historical data review.

This particular gold target trends north directly into a nugget field held by others under a prospecting license, indicating Boodanoo’s prospectively for gold.

“We look forward to accessing Boodanoo Northeast to complete first-principles geochemistry and mapping work with special focus on the gold in soil target recently defined by the Western Yilgarn team,” Western Yilgarn general manager Gavin Rutherford said.

“The small prospecting licences held within our 80km2 exploration lease provide a compelling reason to test the gold target as soon as possible.”

The company is also targeting other metals and minerals at Boodanoo.

“The greater potential of the lease (which includes a 2.4km long, 1.7 km wide lithium caesium tantalum target) will also be tested as we continue Western Yilgarn’s search for nickel, copper, and PGE.”

Geochemistry and mapping at Boodanoo Northeast will commence in late April to refine and extend the gold target.

Western Yilgarn is also developing the Ida Holmes Junction project, which boasts geological similarities to BHP’s West Musgrave nickel-copper-PGE.

The company has lined up 24 drilling targets at the project, with the hope of discovering further nickel-copper-PGE mineralisation.
