Winsome hails ‘globally significant’ lithium resource

Winsome Resources

Winsome Resources has emerged as one of the key players in the James Bay region of Quebec after unveiling a landmark maiden mineral resource estimate (MRE) for its Adina lithium project.

The MRE contains 58.5 million tonnes (Mt) of inferred resources at 1.12 per cent lithium oxide (Li2O), consisting of 1.62Mt of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE) product.

Winsome conducted 27,600m of drilling at Adina to inform the MRE, with a further five drill rigs currently carrying out drilling at the project. Some 25,000m of infill and extensional drilling is awaiting assay, with an MRE upgrade targeted in the first half of 2024.

Such is Winsome’s aggressive exploration strategy at Adina, the company said it is well-funded to conduct more than 50,000m of infill and step-out drilling at the project in 2024.

“Today’s announcement of our maiden MRE marks a significant milestone for the Adina lithium project and is an historic moment for Winsome Resources,” Winsome managing director Chris Evans said.

“Just over a year ago, our first sampling expedition began at Adina, and it is a remarkable achievement by our exploration team to have since declared one of the largest hard-rock MREs in North America.

“Winsome is one of very few lithium developers around the world with a large high-quality resource in a Tier-1 mining jurisdiction, which can integrate directly into the North American electric vehicle (EV) supply chain.”

Winsome is among a legion of determined explorers uncovering the potential of the James Bay hard-rock lithium region, with proximity to the emerging North American EV market seen as a jurisdictional advantage.

Other players include Patriot Battery Metals and its Corvette lithium project, Allkem and its James Bay lithium project, and Cygnus Gold and its Pontax asset.
