Far East Gold continues to bolster its Woyla gold project after discovering visible gold and electrum from Phase 2 drilling at the Rek Rinti prospect.
Drill hole AGM007, which targeted the Agam zone that delivered bonanza-grade gold and silver grades last year, intersected finely disseminated electrum and visible gold within a quartz vein.
Far East Gold said this discovery confirms the lateral extension of high-grade mineralisation at the Agam zone.
“The mineralisation occurs within massive quartz developed adjacent to the footwall fault contact,” the company said in an ASX announcement.
“Mineralisation is manifest as coarse clots of dark grey sulphide mineralisation interpreted to represent local zones of ginguro banded quartz. Based on the colour it appears that both visible gold and also the gold-silver alloy electrum occur.”
In December, Far East Gold announced bonanza-grade assays at the Agam zone within Woyla’s Rek Rinti prospect area. This included intersections of 78 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and 631g/t silver over 0.5m (from 108.6m) at drill hole RRD004, while RRD003 intersected 59g/t gold over 1m (from 192m).
With the Phase 2 drill program continuing, Far East Gold said it is expediting preparations for a maiden drill program at the Aloe Eumpeuk prospect, with drilling to commence before the end of March.
Previous exploration conducted by Barrick Gold in 1997 identified two high-grade veins extending approximately 300m along strike. Previous sampling by Far East Gold found grades of up to 63g/t gold and 1179g/t silver at Aloe Eumpeuk, confirming the presence of high-grade gold and silver at surface.
The company plans to undertake a six-hole, 650m scout drill program at Aloe Eumpeuk as it tests the high-grade veins.
The Phase 2 drill program incorporates a 5000m resource delineation program at Rek Rinti and 5000m scout drilling program across the Anak Perak, Rek Rinti and Aloe Eumpeuk prospects.
