Boss Energy has appointed experienced mining professional James Davidson as the new general manager of its Honeymoon uranium project in South Australia.

Davidson has previously held positions with Rio Tinto, Mt Gordon Copper and Energy Resources of Australia (ERA) at its Ranger uranium mine.

In 2004, he joined Heathgate Resources in a key technical development role to support the Beverly uranium mine expansion, and in 2006 he joined Uranium Equities (UEQ) subsidiary Urtek where he developed ion exchange technology.

Davidson co-founded Inception Consulting Engineers in 2012, where he was involved in detailed reviews of global uranium operations, including Olympic Dam and Valhalla in Australia.

“James has immense experience across project management and construction, with a particular emphasis on uranium metallurgy and operations,” Boss managing director Duncan Craib said.

“This knowledge will be invaluable as we advance development of Honeymoon and prepare for commissioning and steady-state production.”

John Stanning has joined Pilbara Minerals in the newly-created role of chief development officer, where he will oversee the company’s corporate development, growth and exploration functions.

Stanning has over 20 years of experience as an investment banker at both Macquarie Capital and Rothschild in Perth, where he scored an impressive track record of lithium sector transactions.

Pilbara Minerals believes it will benefit from not only the corporate know-how Stanning brings, but also his established relationships within the lithium sector and the broader market.

“John brings an impressive track record of lithium sector experience and relationships across the value chain,” Pilbara Minerals chief executive officer and managing director Dale Henderson said.

“He is already well known to the Pilbara team given his previous corporate advisory role, assisting us with corporate strategy and key transactions, including the successful acquisition of Altura Mining and the associated equity raising.”

Stanning will commence in the new role in the second half of February.

Burton was most recently managing director of TNG (now named Tivan) which is developing its Mount Peake vanadium-titanium-iron project in Northern Territory.

“The board and I are delighted with the appointment of Burton at this pivotal time as we advance the company’s key vanadium projects at Victory Bore and Unaly Hill, Perenjori Iron Ore and our emerging Yidby gold discovery,” Surefire executive chair Vladimir Nikolaenko.

Fanie van Jaarsveld, who is currently managing director of OM Manganese which operates the Bootu Creek manganese mine in the Northern Territory, brings strong business development expertise and operational management to Element 25.

Sam Lancuba, a chemical engineer with more than 40 years’ experience in the global fertiliser industry, will be an important asset in Element 25’s construction of the first processing plant globally to produce ethical, traceable battery-grade manganese sulfate.

Element 25 said the two additions will be critical as the company advances its Butcherbird manganese project in WA.

Emerging uranium player Bannerman Energy has welcomed Gavin Chamberlain as its new chief operating officer (COO).

Chamberlain has more than 30 years’ experience in construction, engineering and project management within the global mining sector, most particularly within the southern African mining industry.

He was most recently COO of Kore Potash, where he was responsible for advancing its large-scale potash projects in the Republic of Congo.

Bannerman managing director and CEO Brandon Munro said Chamberlain would be a vital asset to the company.

“His professional background combines vast experience in advancing and constructing large projects and, critically, direct experience in large-scale uranium project development within Namibia,” he said.

“He holds relevant experience across all aspects of the development process, from feasibility evaluation through financing, build, commissioning and operations.”
