Why Patriot Battery Metals is a must-buy

Patriot Battery Metals

Patriot Battery Metals commenced trading on the ASX in early December and there are several reasons why the company could be a wise investment.

Firstly, Patriot Battery Metals has former Pilbara Minerals managing director and chief executive officer Ken Brinsden as its non-executive chair, who made the move because of Patriot’s fancied Corvette lithium project.

“I’m winding down at Pilbara Minerals and having a look at the Patriot geological maps … and thinking to myself, this is feeling a lot like Pilgangoora in 2015, because the geology at the Corvette discovery feels like it’s going to support another big project over time,” he told the Resources Rising Stars Summer Series in December.

“It’s early stages in exploration but already there’s evidence to indicate that it’s going to be one of the bigger discoveries in the last decade or so.”

Brinsden, who departed Pilbara Minerals in July 2022, played a key role in the delineation and development of the company’s Pilgangoora lithium project in the Pilbara.

Pilbara Minerals endured the lithium downturn in 2019 and came out the other side, acquiring the felled Altura Mining’s neighbouring Altura project, located adjacent to Pilgangoora at the time.

With lithium prices soaring, Pilbara Minerals has gone on to be a bonafide success story, with new boss Dale Henderson now at the helm.

Another reason Patriot could be a wise investment is the sheer size and potential of the Corvette project. To put it simply, if someone of Brinsden’s stature is going to come onboard, it’s validation of the lithium asset at Patriot’s disposal.

Patriot has commenced the winter phase of its 2023 drill program at Corvette, with a minimum of 20,000m of drilling planned between January and April, which the company said is the largest single lithium drill program in Quebec in recent times.

At least five drill rigs will be utilised to complete the program, with the objective to extend the 2200m strike length of the CV5 pegmatite system to the east and west. Patriot will also continue delineation of the recent CV13 discovery, situated 4.3km along trend to the west-southwest.

In September 2022, Patriot announced it had intersected spodumene pegmatite in the first drill hole targeting CV13, with the intercept extending from surface to 25.5m deep.

More than 70 lithium pegmatite outcrops have been identified across more than 20km of trend to date, with more than 20km of trend still to be explored.

Patriot Battery Metals president, chief executive officer and director Blair Way said he expected 2023 to be a transformative year for the company.

“The 2022 drilling has defined something very special at Corvette and this winter season will further expand on this significant discovery,” he said in a press statement.

“With five drill rigs we will be better positioned to continue to drill out the CV5 pegmatite cluster at an aggressive pace, while also further testing the CV13 pegmatite cluster. The year 2023 will be a transformative year for the company as we advance to an initial mineral resource at CV5.”
