There were a few surprises in Flynn Gold’s latest batch of assays at its Golden Ridge project in north-east Tasmania, including a significant shallow gold intersection.
Flynn Gold’s TFDD003 diamond drill hole at the Trafalgar prospect hit 1.2m at 65.9 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 57.5m, including 0.5m at 143g/t gold.
These were the first assays received from TFDD003, with further assays pending for an additional vein structure intersected at a depth of 286–303m.
Flynn Gold has also completed drilling at TFDD004, which explored below TFDD003. TFDD004 intersected vein structures at 85–100m, 184–191m, 297–300m and 474–478m depths, with assays pending.
The junior has also commenced drilling TFDD005, which will test for continuation of mineralised zones about 100m east of Flynn Gold’s first hole, TFDD002.
“We are very pleased with these latest results from our second diamond drill hole at the Trafalgar prospect,” Flynn Gold chief executive officer Neil Marston said.
“What is most pleasing is that we have intersected a bonanza-grade interval at a shallow depth, which at this early stage appears unrelated to the multiple vein zones intersected in our first drill hole, TFDD002.
“TFDD002 intersected multiple gold zones beneath the old Trafalgar mine workings. Step-out drill hole TFDD003 was drilled to test for mineralisation about 100m west of the first hole, so these latest results enhance our view that there is potential for a significant mineralised gold system at Trafalgar.”
Marston said Trafalgar was growing in potential by the day.
“Trafalgar is the first location at Golden Ridge where the intrusive-hornfels contact has been drill tested by the company,” he said.
“This geological contact has been identified over an 8km strike length, demonstrating that the Golden Ridge project has the potential to become a significant gold system.”
TFDD002 has produced intersections such as 5.4m at 10.63g/t gold from 160.1m, 4.3m at 4.34g/t gold from 594.7m and 9m at 2.28g/t gold from 289m.
