Torque Metals has promoted Cristian Moreno to the role of chief executive officer, having served as the company’s senior geoscientist, playing an integral role in the recent drilling campaign at the Paris gold project in Western Australia.

Moreno has served in various roles at gold and oil and gas companies, and was most recently mine/project geologist for Australian gold producer Red 5.

Moreno specialises in the emerging field of advanced machine learning to process new and existing geoscientific data to improve the potential for exploration success.

Mathew Longworth has joined Torian Resources as non-executive director, replacing Dale Schultz who will be retiring at the company’s annual general meeting on May 16.

Longworth has more than 35 years’ experience working across exploration, project evaluation/development, operations and corporate management in the resources sector, having held managing director/chief executive officer, chief operation officer and exploration manager roles.

Torian executive chairman Paul Summers said Longworth would prove influential in the development of the company’s Mt Stirling project in Western Australia.

“Torian will be well served by Longworth’s calibre and experience. He has a proven track record in the resources industry and will add significant knowledge to the development of our gold developments as well as our recent clean heavy rare earths discovery,” Summers said.

Falcon Metals has appointed Pradeep Subramaniam as chief financial officer (CFO) and joint company secretary, bringing with him extensive financial and commercial experience in energy and resources.

After 11 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Subramanian spent time at several ASX-listed junior exploration companies, working in financial roles including as chief financial officer.

Subramanian arrives at a time when Falcon is developing its Pyramid Hill gold project in Victoria, which was demerged from Chalice Mining in late 2021.

“Establishing an office in Melbourne is an important move for Falcon Metals which cements the Victorian capital as our home base and supports our ongoing exploration campaigns at the 100 per cent-owned Pyramid Hill gold project,” Falcon Metals’ managing director Tim Markwell said.

“We are also delighted to welcome Pradeep as CFO and look forward to working with him as we progress our projects. Sincere thanks to Andrea Betti for her work in this role during the inception and public listing of Falcon, which laid the groundwork for what we hope will be a very successful future.”

Matador Mining has revealed two board changes and the commencement of Sam Pazuki as company chief executive officer.

Ian Murray will transition from executive chairman to become non-executive chairman while non-executive director Mick Wilkes has retired from the board to pursue other opportunities.

Pazuki joins Matador after almost ten years at OceanaGold Corporation, where he was influential in the company’s expansion into North America.

Matador non-executive chairman Ian Murray said Pazuki will provide invaluable experience to the company’s exploration projects.

“The company is embarking on exciting times and I am confident that Sam is the right person to lead the company as we pivot our strategy to focus more heavily on our greenfields exploration program,” he said.

“The work we have completed over the past year, including a comprehensive magnetic survey and field work through geochemical testing, has identified numerous high priority targets.

“This includes the Malachite area which sits approximately 20km north of our existing 837,000-ounce resource within … the multi-million-ounce Cape Ray Shear.”

Matador is currently advancing its Cape Ray gold project in Newfoundland, Canada, which boasts four deposits all of which are within 15km of strike.
