Follow the leaders: This week’s executive appointments

Podium Minerals has been shuffling around its board with chief executive officer Sam Rodda also appointed as managing director. Non-executive director Rod Baxter has been made the new deputy chair of the company.

Podium chairman Clayton Dodd said Rodda’s appointment as managing director came at a critical juncture for the company as it develops its Parks Reef platinum group metals (PGM) project in Western Australia.

Parks Reef contains PGM, gold and base metal mineralisation 15km along strike. Podium has intersected resources near surface with an average true width of approximately 15m.

Evan Davies has resigned as a non-executive director of Flinders Mines, who was a nominee director of the company’s largest shareholder TIO (NZ) Limited.

Flinders non-executive chair Neil Warburton credited Davies for his contribution to the company.

“On behalf of the board of Flinders, I would like to thank Evan for his years of service to the company and wish him well in his future endeavours,” he said. “The board of Flinders will consider a suitable replacement for Davies in the near term and update the market in due course.”

Flinders Mines is an exploration and development company focused on developing its Pilbara iron ore project 60km north-west of Tom Price.

GreenTech Metals has welcomed Roderick Webster as a non-executive director, bringing with him more than 40 years’ experience in the resources industry.

In the past, Webster has been a senior executive with First Quantum Minerals and was the founding director and chief executive officer of Western Metals and Weatherly.

He is currently a fellow of both the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

GreenTech Thomas Reddicliffe said Webster brings invaluable experience to the company.

“Rod brings with him a wealth of technical and commercial experience which will assist the company in assessing the commercial potential of the Whundo project (in WA) but also in unlocking value across our highly prospective copper, nickel and gold focussed project portfolio.”

Stirling Ross has joined Cyclone Metals as a non-executive director, having spent the last 12 years with Eastman Chemical Company where he had management responsibilities in the agricultural, mining and oil and gas sectors.

Cyclone non-executive chairman Terry Donnelly said Ross’ international expertise will be a key asset to the company.

“We welcome Ross to the board and believe he can add further depth with relevant operational expertise and experience, particularly in a regional context as the company has recently acquired New Zealand interests.”

Kalium Lakes has appointed Sophie Raven as company secretary, who has worked in legal and company secretary roles for various ASX-listed and large private companies in Australia, Africa, the US and Europe.

Her experience spans mining, mining services, technology and manufacturing sectors while she has also practiced as a corporate and commercial lawyer in law firms, focusing on general corporate, mergers and acquisitions, and investment funds.

Raven’s appointment comes following the resignation of Gareth Widger.
