Follow the leaders: This week’s executive appointments

Keep up with the latest executive movements across the mining sector, including at BHP, Gold Road Resources and more.

BHP has appointed Michelle Hinchliffe to the company’s board as an independent non-executive director from March 1, 2022.

Hinchcliffe currently holds the role of UK chair of audit at KPMG and will retire from this position before joining BHP.

She has 30 years’ experience in KPMG’s financial services division and is a qualified chartered accountant.

Hinchcliffe has also served as a partner and member of KPMG’s Australian and UK boards. BHP will also appoint Hinchcliffe to BHP’s risk and audit committee on March 1, 2022.

Gold Road Resources has hired Denise McComish as an independent non-executive director from September 7, 2021 and chair of its audit committee from October 1, 2021.

McComish is currently a non-executive director and chair of the audit committee at Webjet, Beyond Blue and Chief Executive Women.

She also serves as non-executive director of Macmahon Holdings and was previously a partner with KPMG Australia for 30 years.

Gold Road chairman Tim Netscher said the company would use McComish’s national and international resources experience to grow its operations.

Retiring Gold Road audit committee chair Sharon Warbuton will assist McComish in the transition.

Redbank Copper has appointed Dale Henderson as non-executive director of the company.

Henderson’s most recent position was chief operating officer at Pilbara Minerals, tasked with leading the company’s operations and development objectives.

He is a qualified engineer and brings experience in mine operations and development in companies such as Fortescue Metals Group, Chevron and Occidental Petroleum.

Henderson has worked in brownfields and greenfields projects across various commodities.

Redbank chairman Tony Kiernan said he previously worked with Henderson and Pilbara Minerals and said has strong skills and leadership qualities.

The company will award Henderson 1.75 million options if shareholders approve.

Titan Minerals has appointed Peter Cook as a director and non-executive chairman.

Cook has a background in geology with over 35 years experience in exploration, project, operational and corporate management of mining companies.

He is currently non-executive chairman of Westgold Resources and previously served as executive chairman of the company.

Cook also serves as non-executive chairman of Castile Resources and served as non-executive chairman of Nelson Resources before exiting from the role in 2019.

Titan stated Cook’s skills will enhance its board’s skillset, which now comprises geology, mining, business development, operations and capital markets experience.

Hot Chili has appointed Glencore Copper general manager resource engineering Mark Jamieson to the company’s board.

The appointment is a result of Glencore’s investment to secure a 9.99 percent interest in Hot Chili in August.

Glencore previously nominated Jamieson as its preferred board member at Hot Chili.

He brings more than 20 years technical and project experience in open pit and underground operations.

Jamieson has worked with other mining companies including Newcrest Mining, MMG and Barrick Gold.
